Residents are required to participate in financial, personal life skills, and spiritual enrichment classes that aim to provide information and resources necessary to establishing a successful, happy life outside of Brooks House. The following are mandatory classes Brooks House currently offers its residents:

Everyone has their own financial challenges they must face, but with the proper education and resources, Brooks House believes that these challenges become much easier to overcome. This is why every resident must attend Basic Finance classes, to:

  • learn basic finance managementunnamed
  • learn how to save when funds are limited
  • learn how to develop a budget
  • understand what credit scores mean
  • learn ways to become debt-free

Classes are led by a local volunteer who meets with the residents on a weekly basis and provides coaching and assistance.

Financial training, as well as personal life skills are essential to begin the process of being fully equipped to transition from Brooks House into a permanent residence. However, those skills are only part of the picture. We believe spiritual growth is imperative and leads to success in these other areas. In order for spiritual growth to occur, we must be taught, rebuked, corrected, and trained by God’s Word. Then we will be thoroughly equipped for every good work. This is the essence of spiritual growth and the everyday growth in the lives of our families. Brooks House places a strong emphasis on spiritual growth as we believe it to be the foundation of true success in all areas. We offer support to the residents in this endeavor in several ways, which include:

  • providing daily devotional books that our residents are required to read each morning
  • providing Bible study each Wednesday evening which is held for all residents, past and present
  • encouraging residents to attend the church services of their choice, and providing transportation to local worship services of varying denominations
  • providing Children’s Bibles and encouraging the ladies to share in the Word with their children
  • offering spiritual mentoring and support in a group or on a one-on-one basis

Personal life skills and responsibilities are essential to begin the process of being fully equipped to transition from Brooks House to a permanent residence. Therefore, residences must:

  • submit to drug and alcohol testingunspecified-2
  • gain steady employment
  • understand the importance of handling their responsibilities
  • contribute to the upkeep of the house
  • handle laundry, cooking, and designated daily house chores
  • be respectful of others and treat all residents, House Directors, and volunteers with respect
  • care for and supervise their children
